This is a translation of the Japanese original. If there is any difference between the two, the Japanese version prevails.
Article 1 (Purpose and Operator)
- This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes how Miao Zhihao (trade name: Clione Aquarium Team) ("we," "us") handles information about users ("you") of the smartphone and tablet application "Sea Angel: Relaxing Aquarium" (Japanese title: "クリオネ水槽") (the "App").
- We will provide our address without delay upon request to the contact in Article 16.
Article 2 (Basic Approach)
- The App does not require an account and does not ask for your name, address, or phone number.
-
The App connects to the internet only for the following purposes:
- Keeping the record of Star Medals (items collected in the App and exchanged for items) (Article 6)
- Purchasing Clione Premium (an auto-renewing subscription) and checking its status (Article 7)
- Showing ads (rewarded ads) that you choose to watch, and checking consent for ads (Article 8)
- Receiving inquiries and suggestions you send from the App's settings (Article 10)
- We do not perform our own analytics in the App. Tracking for ads is performed by Google only if you allow it on your device (Article 8).
- The App never shows ads on its own. Ads are shown only when you choose to watch one to receive Star Medals.
Article 3 (Purposes of Use)
We use the information we obtain only for the following purposes:
- Providing the App, managing Star Medals, and carrying them over after changing devices or reinstalling
- Determining whether you can use Clione Premium, and restoring purchases
- Showing rewarded ads and confirming Star Medals received for watching them
- Preventing and investigating improper use (such as improperly obtaining Star Medals)
- Responding to inquiries and suggestions, and investigating and improving problems in the App
- Important notices, such as changes to the Terms of Use or this Policy
Article 4 (Information Stored Only on Your Device, and Device Features)
-
The following information is stored only on your device for the App to work and is never sent off the device. It is deleted when you delete the App.
- Backgrounds, items, tank shape, number of clione, light effects, volume, picture quality, notification time, and other settings
- Whether the first-run guide has been shown
- A copy of your Star Medal balance and exchanged items under Article 6, for display while offline
- Only if you turn on "Sway with Tilt" in settings, the App reads your device's accelerometer. These values are used only for drawing the screen and are neither stored nor sent.
- If you turn on notifications in settings, the App schedules them on your device. No information is sent for notifications.
- The App does not access your microphone, camera, photos, location, contacts, calendar, health data, or other such information.
Article 5 (Information We Do Not Collect)
We do not collect:
- Your name, address, phone number, or other information that identifies you (except an email address or other information you choose to send with an inquiry)
- The advertising identifier (IDFA) (except as obtained by Google if you allow it under Article 8)
- Location information (except that Google may estimate your approximate region for ads under Article 8)
- Records of how you operate the App (except the Star Medal record under Article 6 and the purchase record under Article 7)
Article 6 (Star Medal Record)
-
To manage your Star Medal balance and the items you have exchanged for Star Medals, the App sends the following information to our server (hosted on services of Cloudflare, Inc.) and stores it there:
- Identifier: an identifier made only for the App by our server, based on the identifier the App Store issues for each download of the App (one per Apple Account). It is not your Apple ID or email address, and cannot be turned back into the original identifier. If App Store information cannot be obtained, an identifier the App creates on your device. To confirm these, the App sends the App Store-signed record of your download of the App (app identifier, version, download date, and so on) to our server
- Your Star Medal balance, records of Star Medals received (the number picked up in the tank, and those received for watching ads), and the items you exchanged and when
- Your device's time zone offset, used to decide where each day begins
- Connection records (source IP address, date and time, and so on), temporarily recorded by Cloudflare, Inc.'s services to operate the server and prevent improper use
- The same identifier is also used to confirm purchases under Article 7 and for inquiries under Article 10. To confirm Star Medals received for watching an ad, Google sends the identifier and the viewing record to our server under Article 8.
Article 7 (Purchasing Clione Premium and Checking Its Status)
- To manage purchases of Clione Premium and check their status, the App uses "RevenueCat," a service provided by RevenueCat, Inc.
- The identifier under Article 6, your App Store purchase record (product purchased, purchase date, expiration date, auto-renewal status, and so on), device and App version, and country and currency settings are sent to RevenueCat. Your name, email address, Apple ID, and advertising identifier (IDFA) are not sent.
- This information is used only to determine whether you can use Clione Premium and to restore purchases, and is not used for ads or tracking.
- RevenueCat handles information under its privacy policy (https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy).
Article 8 (Ads)
- The App shows video ads (rewarded ads) from Google AdMob, an ad service of Google LLC, only when you choose to watch one to receive Star Medals. While you have Clione Premium, the ad entry point is not shown.
- So that ads can be shown right away, while you do not have Clione Premium the App starts Google's SDK and loads an ad in advance when the App launches (it only loads the ad and does not show it until you choose to watch).
- When loading and showing ads, Google may obtain device identifiers (including the advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow it), IP address, records of ad views and interactions, approximate region, and information about your device type, performance, and OS version.
- You choose whether to allow the advertising identifier (IDFA) to be used for ads in the device prompt shown the first time you tap the ad entry point. You receive the same number of Star Medals whether or not you allow it. You can change this anytime in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. While not allowed, non-personalized ads are shown.
- In regions where consent is required by law, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the App shows a consent screen through Google's User Messaging Platform about the use of information for ads. You can change your choice anytime from "Ad privacy settings" in the App's Settings or in the Star Medals section.
- Google notifies our server directly when you finish watching an ad, and this is used to give you Star Medals under Article 6.
- Google handles information under its privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and its explanation of ads (https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads).

- We do not provide personal data to third parties without your consent, except as required by law, when necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property, or as otherwise permitted under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan.
-
To the extent necessary for the purposes of use, we entrust the handling of information to the following providers:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (server operation and data storage)
- RevenueCat, Inc. (purchase management)
- Google LLC (ad delivery; Google handles information under its own policies)
- If the business of the App is succeeded to another party through a business transfer, merger, or other reason, information may be transferred to the successor.
Article 12 (Storage and Handling Abroad)
- All providers in the preceding Article are based in the United States, and information may be stored and processed on servers in the United States and other countries.
- The United States has no comprehensive federal privacy law applying nationwide; instead there are state laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act) and sector-specific laws. For information on other countries' systems, see the website of Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission (https://www.ppc.go.jp/personalinfo/legal/kaiseihogohou/#gaikoku).
- We confirm, through each provider's terms of service and data processing terms, that they have systems in place to continuously take measures equivalent to those required by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
Article 13 (Security Measures)
To prevent leakage, loss, or damage of the information we handle, we take the following measures:
- We have set a basic policy and handling rules, and limit the handling of information to ourselves
- We limit access to the server and administrative consoles to our own accounts
- Communications are encrypted (HTTPS), and identifiers are created with a key known only to our server so that they cannot be turned back into the original identifiers
- We delete information after its retention period (Article 14)
- For storage abroad, we understand the systems of the relevant countries as described in the preceding Article and confirm the providers' measures
Article 14 (Retention and Deletion)
- The Star Medal record under Article 6 is kept for as long as we provide the App. When we stop providing the App, it will be deleted after a reasonable period.
- Inquiries and suggestions under Article 10 are deleted appropriately after the period needed to respond and improve the App.
- Retention and deletion of purchase records under Article 7 and information about ads under Article 8 follow the rules of RevenueCat, Inc. and Google LLC respectively. Records of App Store purchases themselves are managed by Apple Inc.
Article 15 (Requests for Disclosure, Correction, Deletion, and So On)
- You may request, by email to the contact in Article 16, notification of the purposes of use, disclosure (including records of provision to third parties), correction, addition, or deletion, suspension of use or erasure, and suspension of provision to third parties of your personal data held by us.
- Because the App has no accounts, to confirm your identity we will ask for the User ID shown in the App's settings, your Star Medal balance and exchanged items, your device model, when you used the App, and so on. We may be unable to respond if we cannot confirm your identity.
- There is no fee for requests. We will respond by email within the period set by law. We may decline all or part of a request where permitted by law, such as where we are not required to respond or where responding would seriously interfere with the proper conduct of our business, and in that case we will tell you the reason.
- Once your Star Medal record is deleted, your Star Medal balance and the items exchanged for them cannot be restored.
